If the Library isn't "there" anymore, is it anywhere else? We are still there to serve the information needs of the NYULMC community — any time, any place.
After being knocked out of our facility in the Medical Sciences Building by Hurricane Sandy, the Library continues to operate in an altered but very functional state. Most of our faculty and staff are now occupying offices at 577 First Avenue (at 33rd St).
Although most of our facilities are temporarily closed, our collections and services are up and running: e-journals and e-books are available; anything not available electronically can be obtained on request; and librarians are answering questions and meeting with you and your colleagues.
The Ehrman Medical Library sustained considerable damage to its physical facility and IT infrastructure from Hurricane Sandy. We lost most of our staff work areas, our student study space, and almost all of the onsite print collection, to floodwaters. The area is still inaccessible and as such the Ehrman Medical Library remains closed until further notice.
Due to asbestos abatement, the Ehrman Medical Library (ground floor library & mezzanine/balcony area) will be closed from June 1st at 9pm until June 4th at 8am. The Student Study Space in the basement of the Ehrman Medical Library will remain open.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
There will be a shutdown of the perimeter cooling systems on all levels of the library on Tuesday, September 6 from 4pm to 12am. Overhead units will not be affected. We apologize for any inconvenience.
On Saturday, May 7, a crane will be positioned that swings over the Medical Science Building. For safety reasons, all areas of the library including the Quiet Study Space must remain closed for the day. Of course, our electronic resources will be available remotely as usual. If you are looking for study space, you might use the Waldmann Dental Library located in the VA building on the second floor, south. VA security will require you to go through a metal detector and show your current NYU ID with 2011 sticker. Note that Waldmann has a different Wi-Fi and printing set-up from Ehrman.
The book and journal stacks at Ehrman will be closed for important construction work on Wednesday, April 6, from 7:30am to 1pm. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Because of important electrical work, Ehrman Medical Library will be closed all day Saturday, April 2.The Student Study Space will be open and available via the A stairs or elevator #24. The public computers on the mezzanine level of the library will also be operational.
Please pardon the inconvenience.
Unfortunately there has been some flooding in the lower level of Ehrman Medical Library, affecting the Student Study Space and the book stacks area. All of the library will remain open during clean-up, but there will be some disruption as workmen inspect the area and run dehumidifiers. Please avoid sitting in the areas that were flooded until the clean-up is done.
The Student Study Space at Ehrman Medical Library will be closed for repairs on Saturday, December 4, from 7am to 4pm.
On the weekend of November 6 and November 7, a crane will be rigged that swings over the Medical Science Building. For safety reasons, all areas of the library including the Student Study Space must remain closed for the weekend. The library will stay open until the normal time on Friday and will open normally on Monday.
