About the Dental Faculty Bibliography

What is the Faculty Bibliography?
The NYU College of Dentistry Faculty Bibliography is a service of the NYU Health Sciences Libraries. The purpose of the Bibliography is to gather citations to publications of NYU College of Dentistry faculty into a single easy-to-use database.

What's included?
The Dental Faculty Bibliography endeavors to include all published articles, chapters, and books written by Dental faculty. It does not include "preprint," "in press," "submitted," or "accepted" publications. For inclusion, the faculty member must be named as an author in the publication. Meeting abstracts that are posted on society web sites, but not formally published, will be included if an accurate URL is available.

Where do the citations come from?
Citations are gathered from various online databases, most prominently Medline and HSLCat (the Library's online catalog). Citations also come from Biological Abstracts, EMBASE, Web of Science, and PsychInfo and other databases. These databases are available for searching via the NYU Health Sciences Libraries Web site. The Bibliography also contains citations to published works that do not appear in online databases, but which have been identified and suggested by faculty themselves and verified by the Library.

Some of my publications are missing. How can I get them added?
It's impossible for the Library to catch and include every faculty publication as soon as it appears in print. Among other things, there is always a time lag between publication and inclusion in online citation databases. The Library always welcomes submissions and corrections from the faculty. You may drop off citations or your CV at the Library Circulation Desk or you may email us at hsl_facbib@nyumc.org.

Some of the publications listed under my name are not mine. How can I get them removed?
Matching faculty names against published citations is at best an inexact science. Please let us know about any problems of this nature you encounter. The Library always welcomes corrections from the faculty. You may drop off corrections at the Library Circulation Desk or you may email us at hsl_facbib@nyumc.org.

The Library's objective is a truly comprehensive bibliography. We are continually working to add citations and otherwise improve the data and its usability. We encourage all faculty and departments to make every effort to ensure that they are fully and fairly represented in the Bibliography. The best way to do this at present is to have individual faculty review their bibliographies and submit additions and corrections via email at hsl_facbib@nyumc.org.
