What is the Faculty Bibliography?
The NYU School of Medicine Faculty Bibliography is a service of the NYU Health Sciences Libraries. The purpose of the Bibliography is to track publications of NYU School of Medicine faculty in a single easy to use database. The Faculty Bibliography includes publications of all NYU School of Medicine faculty of the rank of assistant professor or higher. It also includes publications of faculty of the rank lecturer who have choosen to participate. The Faculty Bibliography is closely linked with School of Medicine's online Faculty BioSketch pages, which provide faculty with a place to describe their research and clinical interests in their own words.
What's included?
The Faculty Bibliography endeavors to include all formally published works (articles, chapters, books, etc.) written by eligible faculty. It does not include "preprint," "in press," "submitted," or "accepted" publications. For inclusion, the faculty member must be named as an author in the publication. Meeting abstracts that are posted on society web sites, but not formally published, will be included if an accurate url is available.
Where do the citations come from?
Citations are gathered from various online databases, most prominently Medline and HSLCat (the Library's online catalog). Citations also come from Biological Abstracts, EMBASE, Web of Science,, PsychInfo and other databases. These databases are available for searching via the NYU Health Sciences Libraries Web site.
The Bibliography also contains citations to published works that do not appear in online databases, but which have been identified and suggested by faculty themselves and verified by the Library.
Some of my publications are missing. How can I get them added?
Unfortunately, it's impossible for us to catch and include every faculty publication as soon as it appears in print. Among other things, there is always a time lag between publication and inclusion in online citation databases.
The Library always welcomes submissions and corrections from the faculty. You may drop off citations at the Library Information Desk or you may use My e-Connect.
Some of the publications listed under my name are not mine. How can I get them removed?
Matching faculty names against published citations is at best an inexact process. Please let us know about any problems of this nature you encounter. The Library always welcomes corrections from the faculty. You may drop off corrections at the Library Information Desk or you may use My e-Connect.
Understanding Publications in MyInfo
MyInfo gives the individual faculty member the ability to review and correct their entries in the NYU School of Medicine Faculty Bibliography. In addition it shows recent additions to the national PubMed database that the individual faculty member may want to add to their listings.
Under the MyInfo Publications Tab you will see two types of entries:

The Library's objective is a truly comprehensive bibliography. We are continually working to add citations and otherwise improve the data and its usability. We encourage all faculty and departments to make every effort to ensure that they are fully and fairly represented in the Bibliography. The best way to do this is for individual faculty to regularly review their listings and submit additions and corrections via My e-Connect.
