Meet Our Donors

Clarence E. de la Chappelle, MD

In 1983, de la Chapelle endowed the NYU Medical Library Archives in memory of his late wife of 51 years, the former Lillian Buckmann. This endowment has allowed for the acquisition, description and preservation of invaluable documents, letters, and historic records relating to the history of the school and NYU Langone.

Daniel C. Bryant, MD

Dr. Bryant’s lifelong love of literature inspired him to generously donate a collection of materials by physician-authors.

Dr. Harvey Taterka

A distinguished ophthalmologist with decades of service, Dr. Taterka was a generous supporter of the Medical Library.

Frederick L. Ehrman

Frederick L. Ehrman was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NYU Langone Health and a Trustee of New York University. Both he and his wife were major contributors to the Medical Library, which was formerly named the Frederick L. Ehrman Library.

Herman Robbins, MD

The Herman Robbins Medical Library was named in 1993 in honor of Dr. Robbins’ invaluable service to the NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital and to its residents, patients, and staff. In 2008, the library was re-dedicated to Dr. Robbins.

Sid and Ruth Lapidus

Sid and Ruth Lapidus have made numerous gifts to NYU Langone, and in 2014, they made a large endowment gift to the Health Sciences Library. In 2016, the library’s newly renovated flagship space was named the Sid and Ruth Lapidus Health Sciences Library.
