Coming May 5: UpToDate’s New AI-Enhanced Search
We’re excited to share that starting Monday, May 5, your UpToDate experience will include a new AI-enhanced search designed to make it faster and easier to find answers to your clinical questions at the point of care.
This upgrade supports natural language queries, meaning you can now type questions the way you would ask a colleague. The system will return results with highlighted excerpts directly from UpToDate’s trusted, evidence-based content.
Importantly, this is not generative AI—it does not create new content, so there's no risk of hallucinated answers. Instead, it uses AI to surface the most relevant sections from existing content, helping you focus more on patient care.
This update coincides with a broader effort by the NYU Health Sciences Library to enhance your research and clinical workflows. We’re making it easier to find, access, and return to the evidence you need.
Try LibKey Nomad, a browser extension that delivers one-click access to full-text PDFs on sites like PubMed and publisher pages, or explore our AI-guided literature search tools like Research Assistant (integrated into our catalog for natural language research queries) and Scite.ai (which shows how articles support or challenge each other).
As always, we would love to hear your feedback and suggestions. Please contact our helpdesk and let us know what you think as we continue to improve your experience.
