Welcome to the NYU Health Sciences Library! Here are a few easy ways you can quickly get started with the Library.

A Note About Access Privileges
For the most part, all current faculty, staff, and students at NYU Langone and NYU Grossman School of Medicine have full access to the library's resources, both online and in-person. Other groups may wish to check out our comprehensive Access Privileges chart for more information about what resources are available to them.

Still can't find what you're looking for? Feel free to contact us via the menu on the right side of this page, and we can answer any questions you may have.

Searching for an article in Pubmed

The easiest way to access the full text of an article is to search Pubmed from our NYU Health Sciences Library Gateway.

You can do this by either searching directly from our homepage…

How to search PubMed from our homepage

...or by starting your search at our NYUHSL Pubmed Gateway page at:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=&otool=nynyumlib

Starting at either of these locations ensures full text access to any content that the library subscribes to. Navigate to the article of your choice and then click on the purple button that says "Access through NYU HSL."

If we do not subscribe to the resource that you found in Pubmed, you can request the article through our Document Delivery Service (DDS).

DDS redirect page

Please note that DDS requires a NYU Langone Health or NYU username (KID or Net ID). Select your affiliation to login. Most of our users will want to choose NYULH (this is the same username and password you would use to log into your NYULH email).

Searching for Journals, Databases, and Books

The Library subscribes to thousands of resources, all of which are available online.

Starting at the Library’s homepage (https://hsl.med.nyu.edu), select the Journals, Databases and Books tab. From here, simply type in the title of the journal, database, or book you would like to find.

Click on the tab that says Journals, Databases and Books to search these resources

The catalog will provide you with a list of resources that match your search. Select your title for more information, or click on the green text that says "Available" for the quickest access.

In some cases, the Library is able to provide access through multiple providers. Select any of the providers for access. Note that some providers may only have content from certain years.

Choose the vendor that provides access for the time period you need

How do I get remote access from home, or any location away from the Medical Center?

Simply search the catalog the same way you did in Step 2. After you’ve selected the journal, database, or book of your choice, you will be asked to choose your institutional affiliation. Most of our users will want to choose NYU Langone Health. Then you will be able to log in with your KID and password. Hint: your KID and password are the same ones you use to access central.nyumc.org

Choose NYU Langone Health as your affiliation when logging in from offsite

After you log in, you will automatically be directed to your resource.

* If you experience problems with your username or password, please contact the MCIT Help Desk at (212) 263-6868

You can also use our Bookmarklet to access full-text articles while off-site

Drag this icon to your bookmarks bar to save it: Reload page via NYUHSL

You can click on your bookmark whenever you find an article through an outside search like Google Scholar. If we subscribe to the content you'll be immediately redirected to our login page for access.
